Texas-Inspired BBQ Restaurant to Open in Cirencester Next Week

A new Texas-inspired BBQ restaurant, Smokinly Good BBQ, is set to open its doors in Cirencester next week, bringing traditional American barbecue cuisine to Bishop’s Walk.

Already established with locations in Tewkesbury and Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, the business is expanding its reach with the Cirencester branch scheduled to open on Wednesday, 23 September 2026.

Owners Hannah Airey and Aaron Maxfield have spent the past five months transforming the former Purrfect Pet Care pet shop into the new restaurant. They will be supported by Hannah’s father, Jason Airey, alongside their business partner, Sally Cumner.

Smokinly Good BBQ has become known for its traditional American barbecue, employing low-and-slow smoking techniques to prepare dishes such as smoked brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, beef ribs, and other classic barbecue favourites.

However, the team emphasises that the new Cirencester venue will be about more than just food. Their vision is to create a relaxed and welcoming space that fosters a sense of community.

Jason Airey explained, “We’re incredibly excited to open Smokinly Good BBQ in Cirencester. As a family-run business, building a friendly and inviting atmosphere is very important to us. We don’t just want to open another restaurant; we aim to create a genuine community meeting place where people can gather with friends and family, enjoy excellent food, and feel at home.”

He added that supporting local businesses is a key part of their philosophy. “Wherever possible, we source our ingredients locally and collaborate closely with regional suppliers and producers. We want the restaurant to contribute to the local economy while becoming a meaningful part of the Cirencester community.”

Bringing their distinctive Texas-style barbecue to the town, Smokinly Good BBQ will continue to focus on traditional low-and-slow meat smoking methods.

Hannah Airey said, “Aaron and I are really looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming people in. Cirencester has a fantastic community, and we want Smokinly Good BBQ to become a place that locals genuinely enjoy visiting-whether for the food, to meet friends, or simply to soak up the atmosphere.”

The new Cirencester restaurant marks the next phase of growth for the family business, all while maintaining its independent spirit and dedication to locally sourced produce, which have been central to Smokinly Good BBQ’s identity.

Smokinly Good BBQ in Cirencester will officially open on Wednesday, 23 September 2026.
