An 18-year-old teenager tragically lost his life following an e-scooter collision in Cheltenham over the weekend. The incident occurred late Saturday night, January 24, when the teen was struck by a car near St Paul’s Road, close to the junction with Folly Lane.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 11 pm, and the teenager was rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by paramedics. Despite their efforts, he passed away the following day, Sunday, January 25. A specially trained officer has been assigned to support the family during this difficult time.
Gloucestershire Police arrested a local man in his 20s shortly after the crash. Initially detained on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, he was later rearrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Additionally, four other individuals have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The driver, believed to be operating a white Kia, fled the scene immediately after the collision. Police have since seized the vehicle for further investigation. The arrested individuals have been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
