Teenager Dies After Cheltenham E-Scooter Collision

An 18-year-old teenager tragically lost his life following a collision involving an e-scooter and a car in Cheltenham over the weekend.

The crash occurred late Saturday night (January 24) on St Paul’s Road, near the junction with Folly Lane. Emergency services were called to the scene around 11 pm after reports of a collision between a car, believed to be a white Kia, and an e-scooter.

Paramedics quickly transported the teenager to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he sadly passed away on Sunday, January 25. His family is currently receiving support from a specially trained police officer.

In connection with the incident, Gloucestershire Police arrested a man in his 20s from Cheltenham. Initially detained on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, he was later rearrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Additionally, four more individuals were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All five have since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.

Following the investigation, police seized the white Kia believed to be involved in the crash. The driver reportedly failed to stop at the scene.
