A fatal collision on the M4 motorway in the South West has claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy and left a woman seriously injured. Wiltshire Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The tragic crash occurred at around 8 pm on July 18, between junctions 16 and 17, on the westbound carriageway between Swindon and Bristol. The young boy, a passenger in a Toyota RAV-4, died at the scene. A woman who was also a passenger in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving hospital treatment.
The Toyota RAV-4 collided with a Renault van in the incident. Fortunately, the drivers of both vehicles escaped without serious injuries. Emergency services, including air ambulances, responded promptly and transported the injured woman to hospital.

As a result of the collision, the M4 westbound near Chippenham was closed for more than 12 hours, causing significant disruption and necessitating diversions. The motorway has since reopened following the removal of vehicles and completion of investigations.
