Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a tragic crash on the M4 motorway resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy. The incident occurred around 8pm on July 18 between junctions 16 and 17, shutting the westbound carriageway for more than 12 hours.
The boy was a passenger in a Toyota RAV-4 involved in a collision with a Renault van near Chippenham. A woman, also a passenger in the Toyota, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital by air ambulance. Thankfully, the drivers of both vehicles escaped without serious harm.
The prolonged closure caused significant disruption, with diversions in place while police conducted investigations and removed the damaged vehicles. The motorway has since reopened.
