A tragic accident on the M4 motorway has claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy and left a female passenger with serious injuries. The crash occurred around 8pm on July 18 between junctions 16 and 17, leading to the closure of the westbound carriageway for more than 12 hours.
Wiltshire Police have confirmed that the boy, who was a passenger in a Toyota RAV-4, died following a collision with a Renault van. Both drivers emerged without serious injuries. Emergency services, including air ambulances, rushed the injured woman to hospital for treatment.
The incident took place near Chippenham, disrupting traffic between Swindon and Bristol. Authorities enforced diversions as they conducted investigations and cleared the scene.
