A fresh culinary destination is about to debut in the Cotswolds, brought to you by the team behind the popular Knead Bakery. Known for its artisanal breads and established in Cirencester in 2020, Knead Bakery has grown to five locations including Tetbury, Oxford, Tewkesbury, and the stunning Elkstone Studios in the Cotswolds.
At Elkstone Studios, this team is now opening Lardon, a stylish new European restaurant specializing in small plates inspired by regions such as Tuscany, Provence, and the Basque Country. Scheduled to open its doors in June, Lardon aims to be a vibrant, community-driven spot where guests can enjoy good company and exceptional food.
Lardon will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients expertly crafted by head chef Mikey Bain, who brings experience from renowned establishments like Calcot Manor and Whatley Manor. Alongside fresh flavors, guests can indulge in a dynamic drinks menu featuring cocktails, ciders, and beers.

The venue’s charming outdoor terrace with a bar will provide a perfect setting for summer al fresco dining. Front-of-house duties will be led by Josh Newman, previously from No. 38 The Park in Cheltenham, enhancing the team’s expertise and hospitality.
Co-founders John and David Hawes, along with Kris Briggs from Cirencester-based Jesse Smith Butchers, have been actively sharing behind-the-scenes updates on social media, building anticipation for Lardon’s grand opening. The team describes the restaurant as inspired by San Sebastian, the south of France, Tuscany, and the Algarve — a place where European small plates meet warm community spirit.
With nearly 400 followers already eagerly awaiting its launch, Lardon is set to become a beloved new culinary hotspot in the Cotswolds, delivering exceptional food, inviting atmosphere, and a true sense of togetherness.
