Taxi Driver Threatened at Knifepoint in Gloucester Robbery

In a harrowing incident in Gloucester, a taxi driver was threatened at knifepoint by a man and a woman who forcibly robbed him of his earnings. On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Justin Francis, 39, and Tiffany Davis, 36, confronted the driver as he stopped in Valley Gardens, Quedgeley.

CCTV footage from inside the taxi revealed Francis wielding a knife aggressively from the back seat, pressing it against the driver’s throat. Terrified, the driver handed over £70 in cash before fleeing the vehicle. He promptly returned to the scene after seeing Francis enter a nearby block of flats, while Davis exited the taxi.

The driver then made his way to police headquarters and reported the crime. Following an investigation, officers located and arrested both Francis, of Chequers Road, Gloucester, and Davis, who has no fixed address.

Last month at Bristol Crown Court, both defendants pleaded guilty to robbery under section 8 (1) of the Theft Act. Francis additionally admitted to possession of a bladed article in a public place.

On Tuesday, April 21, Francis was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, and Davis received a four-year sentence. Both were also issued five-year restraining orders preventing contact with the victim.

Detective Sergeant Jon Stokes commented, “This victim was simply working when Francis threatened him with a knife. Davis was complicit and deliberately tampered with the taxi’s CCTV. Their disregard for the victim’s safety is clear, and the community can now feel safer with them behind bars.”
