Suspicious Taxi-Style Vehicle May Be Linked to Recent Cotswold Burglaries

Police are investigating a white vehicle displaying a ‘Taxi’ sign on its roof, which was seen in the vicinity of several recent burglaries throughout the Cotswolds. Authorities believe this car could be connected to a series of break-ins targeting tools and construction equipment.

The two most recent incidents occurred overnight between July 2 and July 3 in Church Westcote, near Stow-on-the-Wold. In both cases, garages were accessed and tools were stolen or targeted for theft. Witnesses reported seeing offenders flee in a white Ford, possibly a Fiesta, bearing a rooftop Taxi sign.

Further suspicious activity was noted in Moreton-in-Marsh in mid-June, where a property under construction was burglarized. The victim observed a similarly marked white taxi acting suspiciously near the scene shortly before the crime. Additionally, CCTV footage from a burglary at a farm building in Quenington near Fairford on May 22 shows a white car of interest, though this vehicle was not displaying the taxi sign.

Residents who saw the white taxi near Church Westcote during the latest burglaries are encouraged to contact police, referencing incident 43 of July 3. Those with information regarding the Quenington car are asked to quote incident 60 of May 22 when making contact.

Law enforcement officials also advise the community to remain vigilant and follow burglary prevention guidelines to protect their property.
