Suspect Charged in Connection with Lechlade Shooting

A 28-year-old man from Quenington has been charged following a shooting in Lechlade on April 20. Ben Reynolds of Springfield Road faces charges including attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and possession of a shotgun without a certificate.

The shooting occurred at approximately 7:10 pm on Butler’s Field, where the victim, a man in his 30s, was shot while seated in his vehicle. Despite his injuries, the victim was able to drive a short distance before seeking help at a nearby property. Emergency services arrived promptly, and he is currently in stable condition at the hospital.

Gloucestershire Police launched a search for the suspect and arrested Reynolds later that evening in Fairford. Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department and authorization by the Crown Prosecution Service, charges were formally filed.

Reynolds remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on April 22. Due to previous police contact involving those connected to the incident, the force has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Authorities are urging anyone with information, including dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage, to come forward. Witnesses can report information online by citing incident number 417 dated April 20.
