A striking sight caught the attention of motorists and workers alike this afternoon as a Red Arrows jet was transported through Gloucestershire on a motorway lorry.
Sam Kendall, who was working nearby at the time, described the moment as “utterly mental”. He said he had to “double-take” when he saw the iconic aircraft being carried along the road.
“Definitely not something I thought I’d see on my Monday,” Sam told GloucestershireLive. “I genuinely thought my eyes were deceiving me!”

The jet, painted in the distinctive bright red livery with a Union Jack displayed prominently on its tailfin, was secured on the back of a large transporter lorry.
According to reports, the aircraft was part of an “abnormal load” journeying from Coleford to the M5 motorway, with the move commencing around midday. Police escorts accompanied the transport to ensure safety throughout its route.
The convoy departed from The Mushet Industrial Park, proceeding along Crucible Close before joining the B4228 road.
Such an unusual and captivating sight provided an extraordinary spectacle for those fortunate enough to witness it on their usual daily commutes.
