Situated near Winchcombe, just outside Cheltenham, Sudeley Castle and Garden’s annual light trail is a popular attraction in the region. Attendees have the opportunity to embark on an enchanted Wizard of Oz themed adventure, encountering familiar characters such as Dorothy, Toto, the Lion, Scarecrow, Tinman, and, if they’re lucky, the Wizard himself. The trail winds through the picturesque castle grounds, enchanting visitors with breathtaking light displays that accentuate the majestic trees and historic ruins of the magnificent castle.

Guests can warm themselves with a delightful beverage as they traverse the trail, with a must-visit mulled wine and spiced apple drink station located near the trail’s entrance. They are then invited to meander through the grounds while following a magical moonlit trail. Afterward, a variety of street food vendors offer freshly baked pizzas, hot dogs, and hot mulled cider.

This marks the tenth year that the Spectacle of Light has graced Sudeley Castle with its captivating display, and some dates for the event have already sold out in the lead-up to Christmas. Prospective attendees are advised to book their tickets in advance. The family-friendly trail operates from 4.45 pm every weekend until December 30 and typically takes around an hour to complete.

Kirsty Stevens, an attendee at this year’s Spectacle of Light opening, expressed, “Spectacle of Light is the most magical winter light trail and each year it delights our whole family, with stunning light installations, an immersive theme, and the characters really add that extra magic.”
