Stroud Brewery Cancels Controversial Talk Amid Community Concerns

Stroud Brewery and Taproom in Gloucestershire has announced the cancellation of a scheduled event titled “Porn: Positive or Problematic?” following concerns raised by members of the community.

The event, organized by the community group GlosWomen, was set to take place on Saturday, April 18. It aimed to explore the social effects of pornography, featuring co-authors Jo Bartosch and Robert Jessel, who recently published the book Pornocracy. Both speakers have previously written on controversial subjects, sparking heated debates.

In an official statement posted on social media, Stroud Brewery explained that concerns emerged within 24 hours of the booking confirmation. After swiftly reviewing the situation, the brewery concluded that canceling the event was necessary to maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment.
