Stratford Park Lido extends summer season until the end of September

Stratford Park Lido, a much-loved outdoor swimming pool, will remain open until Wednesday, 30 September, weather permitting, allowing residents and visitors additional time to enjoy the facility before the autumn season. Stroud District Council confirmed the extension, with a full timetable continuing to operate throughout the extended period.

The lido, which is approaching its 90th anniversary, reopened in August following extensive repairs that addressed critical safety concerns. Initially set to operate only for the remainder of the 2026 season, the decision to prolong opening dates comes as welcome news for swimming enthusiasts.

Facilities including the baby pool and the recently opened on-site café and shop will continue to be available during public swimming sessions. The updated opening times are as follows:

Visitors are encouraged to book swim sessions in advance; however, walk-in spaces will be available for each session where possible.

Councillor Angela Gillingham, Head of Community Services for Stroud District Council, expressed her enthusiasm for the extension: “We’re delighted that the Lido will remain open until the end of September, giving residents and visitors extra opportunities to enjoy this much-loved community facility. Since reopening, it’s been wonderful to see people back in the water and making the most of everything the Lido has to offer. We look forward to welcoming swimmers throughout the extended season, weather permitting.”

Earlier this year, the lido was deemed unsafe to open due to safety concerns, prompting community outcry. In response, councillors allocated £476,000 for urgent maintenance, resulting in the successful reopening of Stratford Park Lido for the public earlier this season.
