The popular Stratford Park Lido will remain open until Wednesday, 30 September, giving residents and visitors additional time to enjoy outdoor swimming before the onset of autumn. Stroud District Council has confirmed the extension, subject to favourable weather conditions, with a comprehensive timetable of sessions in place.
The open-air pool, nearly 90 years old, underwent extensive repair work this year to address critical safety concerns. After reopening in August for the remainder of the 2024 swimming season, the council has decided to extend the operational dates through the end of September.
During public swimming times, the baby pool as well as the recently added on-site café and shop will continue to be accessible to visitors.

The revised opening hours are as follows:
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday: [specific times not provided]

Swimmers are encouraged to book in advance to secure a place; however, walk-in spaces will also be available for each session.
Councillor Angela Gillingham, Head of Community Services at Stroud District Council, said: “We’re delighted that the Lido will remain open until the end of September, giving residents and visitors extra opportunities to enjoy this much-loved community facility.
“Since reopening, it’s been wonderful to see people back in the water and making the most of everything the Lido has to offer. We look forward to welcoming swimmers throughout the extended season, weather permitting.”
Earlier this year, the lido was declared unsafe for opening, prompting a strong public campaign. In response, councillors allocated £476,000 for urgent maintenance. Following these essential repairs, Stratford Park Lido reopened to the public earlier this season, much to the community’s relief.
