This summer, the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) is welcoming families with a fantastic ‘kids go for a quid’ offer, letting up to three children under 15 travel for just £1 each until the end of August.
The steam railway operates along a 14-mile stretch from Cheltenham Racecourse to Broadway, journeying through the historic Greet Tunnel and crossing the iconic Stanway Viaduct. Each station along the route is unique, featuring traditional charm, characterful architecture, and inviting cafés for visitors to enjoy.
The full trip takes about an hour, but travelers are encouraged to take their time—hopping on and off to explore the distinct atmosphere of each stop. Under 15s can take advantage of this special ticket price when accompanied by up to two adults paying the full fare of £26.60 each.

To enhance the experience, GWSR offers a free activity pack designed to keep young passengers entertained as the train winds through the beautiful Cotswolds countryside.
The ‘kids for a quid’ promotion also grants access to special summer events, including Teddy Bear Picnic trains running on select Thursdays in August, and locomotive-themed family fun and crafts available from August 11 to 23 at the Tim Mitchell Building in Winchcombe Station.

This initiative is part of a wider Summer Savings campaign, encouraged by the government until September 1, temporarily reducing VAT on children’s admissions and meals from 20% to 5%. Participating venues like GWSR are passing these savings directly to families, making summer outings more affordable and enjoyable.
