Stacey Solomon has opened her heart to fans about the ongoing health challenges facing her beloved dog, Teddy. Earlier this year, the Sort Your Life Out presenter shared the heartbreaking news that Teddy’s condition had worsened unexpectedly, leaving the family devastated.
In April, Stacey revealed that she and her husband, Joe Swash, had been told Teddy might never fully recover after a sudden loss of function in his back legs. The couple learned Teddy was suffering from a predisposed spinal condition they were previously unaware of, which caused a burst disc and significant spinal wear.
Following emergency surgery, Stacey explained the uncertainty surrounding Teddy’s recovery. “We are praying and hoping so hard that he pulls through and that we can care for him in the best way possible to give him the best life he can have,” she said. She described Teddy as a loving, protective member of their family who was far too young to face such challenges. The quiet of their home at Pickle Cottage has felt different without his usual presence, she added.
In the weeks after surgery, Stacey dedicated herself to Teddy’s rehabilitation, providing daily physiotherapy and assisting with his bladder care while he remained on medication and crate rest. Despite the demanding routine, she remained hopeful.
At the end of May, after a follow-up check-up, Stacey shared a heartfelt update with her followers. While Teddy is unlikely to regain sensation or mobility in his legs and will require lifelong assistance with urinating and walking, the news wasn’t entirely bleak. The vet was encouraged by how happy Teddy appeared and the progress made through ongoing physiotherapy and care.
Reflecting on the situation, Stacey expressed a mix of sadness and determination: “I feel sad for Teddy but I’m also confident that Joe and I can give him the happiest life and all the love he deserves. This new journey is forever.”
She concluded by reaffirming her commitment to Teddy’s well-being: “We love Teddy so much and will keep going, finding new ways to keep him healthy and happy for as long as we can,” she shared, her emotions evident.
Stacey and Joe’s family life at Pickle Cottage, with their children, pets Teddy and Peanut, and even a flock of ducks, continues to inspire fans as they navigate this new chapter with resilience and love.
