Luke Thomas, formerly of Cheltenham Town, has completed a move to Scottish Premiership club St Mirren. The 27-year-old winger, who departed Bristol Rovers at the conclusion of last season, has committed to a two-year contract with the Paisley-based side, who are set to kick off their league campaign at Falkirk this Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
Hailing from the Forest of Dean, Thomas rose through the ranks of Cheltenham Town’s academy and made his first-team debut at just 16 years old in an FA Trophy match against Chelmsford City. His promising progress caught the attention of Derby County, who signed him in January 2016 following a trial with Portuguese giants Benfica.
During his time with Derby, Thomas gained valuable experience through loan spells at Gloucester City and Coventry City. In 2019, he secured a move to Barnsley after making two Championship appearances for Derby.

More recently, Thomas has been loaned out to Ipswich Town and Bristol Rovers, eventually signing permanently with the latter in 2023 before deciding on his latest move to the Scottish top flight.

St Mirren will be hopeful that Thomas’s versatility and experience across English football will bolster their attacking options as they prepare for the new campaign.
