In the near future, parking fees will be implemented in approximately 22 South Gloucestershire car parks. The council-owned car parks are scheduled to introduce parking charges by spring 2025, in accordance with last year’s disclosure. South Gloucestershire Council has confirmed that the ‘spring’ launch date is on track, with the official date to be announced shortly, followed by the implementation of charges a few weeks later.
The charges will be in effect from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday, while parking will remain free on Sundays and Bank Holidays, with the exception of Park and Ride and train station car parks. Nevertheless, at least 10 per cent of spaces in short-stay car parks, where charges are being introduced, will continue to offer 30-minute free stays, as reported by Bristol Live.
Motorists utilizing short-stay car parks will be charged 70p for the first hour. For up to two hours, the charge will be £1.30, increasing to £3 for up to three hours, and a cost of £5 for stays up to four hours.

In Hanham, where there are no long-stay car parks, stays ranging from two to four hours at Laburnum Road car park will cost £3. Long-stay car parks and spaces will be priced at £3 for the first four hours, increasing to £4 for four to six hours, and finally to £5 for stays exceeding six hours.
Weekly season tickets have been set at £20, with monthly and annual tickets priced at £75 and £840, respectively. A six-monthly ticket option will also be available for £435.
For Blue Badge holders, parking will be free for up to four hours. Subsequently, they will incur a charge of £1 for up to six hours, and a cost of £2 for anything over six hours. A weekly parking ticket for them will be priced at £8.
At Parkway North Park and Ride and Abbey Wood train station, parking will cost £2.60 per calendar day from Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays. These car parks will continue to offer free parking for valid Blue Badge holders.
The payment system will operate on a cashless basis; however, the authority has ensured that contactless pay machines and other easy payment methods will be available to provide a convenient experience for all drivers, regardless of smartphone ownership.
