Son Running Marathon to Honor Dad’s Memory

A Gloucester man is preparing to honor the memory of his late father, who he lovingly describes as ‘the life and soul of the party’. Louis Badham, 31, from Longlevens, will undertake the challenge of the TCS London Marathon on April 27 as a tribute to his beloved dad who received care from Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice during his battle with a devastating brain tumor.

Louis’s father, Martin, passed away in December 2018 at the age of 49, just a few weeks after being diagnosed. The exceptional care and support provided by Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice during this difficult time motivated Louis to take on this 26.2-mile challenge to raise funds for the charity.

Reflecting on his journey, Louis shared, “Running has become an important part of my life. It helps me destress and clears my mind. I wanted to do something meaningful with it, and fundraising for Sue Ryder seemed like the perfect fit.”

Expressing his determination, Louis added, “When the training gets tough, I draw strength from my dad’s resilience. He was the life and soul of the party, and I aim to honor his spirit by staying positive and carrying on with the same zest for life he had.”

Keen on enjoying the marathon experience while also striving for a good performance, Louis is grateful for the support of his extensive network of family, friends, and colleagues. His loving wife will be by his side in London, cheering him on as he pays tribute to his father’s enduring legacy.
