A Gloucester man has appeared in court accused of fatally stabbing his father.
Lawrence Robert Whayman, 55, stood before Gloucestershire Magistrates’ Court in Cheltenham, charged with the murder of his 80-year-old father, Lawrence Joseph Whayman.
Whayman, who resides on Alney Terrace, Gloucester, attended the hearing via video link, responding only to confirm his identity and date of birth.

The court was told the alleged murder occurred on July 2nd at a Gloucester residence. Following the hearing, magistrates committed the case to Bristol Crown Court, scheduling the next appearance for July 7th.
Presiding Justice Peter Gray addressed Whayman, stating: “You have heard the charges today. This case is adjourned until July 7 at Bristol Crown Court. You will remain in custody until then.”
Emergency services were called to the Alney Terrace home on the evening of July 2nd at approximately 9 pm after reports of a man injured. Lawrence Joseph Whayman was rushed to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with stab wounds but later died from his injuries.
