Snow is expected to make a brief appearance in parts of the Cotswolds next week, with BBC Weather forecasting a light dusting on Wednesday night in towns like Stow-on-the-Wold. Temperatures are predicted to fall between 2°C and 1°C from 9pm Wednesday through to 5am Thursday, creating conditions suitable for snow.
While the BBC’s forecast points to snow, the Met Office has been more cautious, predicting temperatures hovering around 0°C to -1°C overnight, with a small chance of precipitation. However, the Met Office does warn that temperatures could feel as cold as -5°C due to wind chill.
As Storm Claudia moves away, the Met Office highlights a shift to colder weather driven by a northerly Arctic flow. Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Holley explained, “With high pressure building to the northwest, we expect much colder conditions across the UK, along with the possibility of wintry hazards such as snow and ice.”

Frosts will become widespread, with temperatures in some areas dipping to -7°C next week. Daytime highs are expected to remain in single figures. Combined with brisk northerly winds, the cold will be keenly felt, marking a stark change from the recent spell of above-average temperatures.
Holley advises residents to stay updated with local forecasts, noting that snow and ice warnings may be issued as conditions develop.
