Drivers in the Cotswolds should prepare for an eight-day road closure in Longborough, which will result in a six-mile diversion. Moreton Road, located three miles southwest of Moreton-in-Marsh, will be closed from Tuesday, June 2, through Wednesday, June 10, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM daily, with an additional closure on Monday, June 22, during the same hours. Notably, the closure will be lifted over the weekend of June 6 and 7.
The closure zone extends from Longborough & Sezincote Cricket Club to Quarry House on Ganborough Road, including Charlesway and Longborough High Street up to the Village Hall, covering just over one mile. To navigate around this, drivers will be diverted six miles south to Stow-on-the-Wold before heading north on the A429 Roman Road back to Longborough.
Residents who normally park on the affected roads must seek alternative parking during closure hours, as vehicles obstructing the works risk being towed. The closures will also impact two cul-de-sacs accessed via Charlesway: The Folly and Bean Hill.

Pedestrian access will remain available to properties within the closure area, subject to safety considerations. Gloucestershire County Council’s Highways team explained that these closures are essential for the safe and efficient completion of resurfacing works, enforced under the Road Traffic Regulation Act.
Residents are advised to plan alternate routes and parking arrangements during the closure period and to monitor updates via the Gloucestershire County Council website and official social media channels.
