Shrewsbury Town have bolstered their defense by signing Arkell Jude-Boyd, who was recently released by Cheltenham Town. The 23-year-old right-back, known for his attacking prowess, made 57 League Two starts for Cheltenham over two seasons, scoring three goals and adding four substitute appearances.
After his contract with Cheltenham expired, Jude-Boyd opted to join the Shrews on a two-year contract, with an additional option for a further year at the club’s discretion. The St Lucia international began his career with Queens Park Rangers and had a loan spell at Torquay United in the National League South during the 2023/24 season.
Shrewsbury’s manager Gavin Cowan expressed satisfaction in securing Jude-Boyd amid stiff competition from other League Two clubs. “What really stood out about Arkell was his desire—to compete, succeed, and be part of what we’re building here,” Cowan said. “He was very impressed with our facilities, including the training ground and stadium.”

Cowan emphasized the club’s commitment to fostering a strong culture both on and off the pitch. “We showed him what our club is about, our clear playing identity, and the environment we’re creating. Arkell was eager to be part of that, which is a huge bonus for us.”
Jude-Boyd will be joining a Shrewsbury squad featuring several former Cheltenham players, including Will Boyle, Sam Stubbs, George Lloyd, Taylor Perry, and Tom Sang, aiming to make a strong impact at the Croud Meadow.
