Shoplifter Known as ‘Red Shoes’ Sentenced to Jail After Banned Shop Visits

Wojciech Wieczorek, a 44-year-old shoplifter with no fixed address, has been jailed after repeatedly entering stores from which he was legally barred. Known locally as “Red Shoes,” Wieczorek was initially handed an eight-week suspended sentence and a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from seven shops in Evesham, including major retailers Tesco, M&S, and Boots.

Following his appearance at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on June 25 for multiple shoplifting offenses and violations of a Community Protection Notice, the court issued strict conditions to prevent further offenses. Despite this, Wieczorek was arrested again just six days later on July 1 for breaching these restrictions by entering the restricted shops.

At a subsequent court hearing on July 2, Wieczorek was charged with three breaches of the CBO. As a result, his suspended sentence was activated, and he received an immediate eight-week prison term.

Police Constable Matt Beards of the Evesham Town Centre Team emphasized the seriousness of the breaches. “The CBO was put in place due to Wieczorek’s persistent shoplifting,” he said. “He was warned that violating the order would lead to imprisonment. Such measures are essential to protect local businesses and the community, as shoplifting not only harms retailers financially but can also affect customers through increased prices.”

The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to deter retail crime and safeguard town centre businesses.
