Shock as Gloucester pub landlords given just 28 days' notice to leave

Landlords Adrian and Kirsty Graham, who have run the Three Oaks pub in Robinswood, Gloucester since May 2022, have been stunned after receiving only 28 days' notice to vacate the property. The couple, who have invested heart and soul into transforming the pub, expressed their deep disappointment at the abrupt decision by brewery owners Heineken and Star Pubs.

For years, the Three Oaks faced challenges and held a problematic reputation. But under Adrian and Kirsty’s care, it blossomed into a community hub welcoming families, hosting wedding receptions, and lively theme nights that packed the venue with joy and laughter. Kirsty had long dreamed of running the Three Oaks, making the forced departure particularly painful.

The couple wrote on the pub’s Facebook page: “It’s not easy to say this, but our time at The Three Oaks is coming to an end. This place has been our home, our business, and the backdrop to some of our greatest memories — including our wedding and countless family celebrations. Receiving just 28 days’ notice, especially with a young baby and family living on-site, feels incredibly hard.”

They further stated: “We took on The Three Oaks knowing its past, but were determined to bring positive change, and we believe we did just that. We don’t know what comes next as Heineken hasn’t shared their future plans with us. But if another team steps in, we wish them well.”

The Grahams plan to host a final celebration at the Three Oaks to say goodbye to their patrons and the community that supported them throughout their tenure.

In response, Star Pubs, operating on behalf of Heineken, commented: “This decision is never taken lightly given the impact on the landlords, pub, and local community. Unfortunately, on this occasion it was deemed necessary. We intend to keep The Three Oaks open while seeking a new operator.”

The sudden notice has left the local community shocked and saddened at the loss of a cherished gathering place now facing uncertain times.
