Karen Linforth (Labour)
Longtime Eastington resident Karen Linforth is dedicated to serving the diverse Severn community, spanning river-side rural areas to new developments. A Parish Councillor and community advocate, she pledges to continue the vital environmental protection efforts led by Richard Maisey, particularly regarding the Severn River’s sensitive ecosystems. Linforth emphasizes practical Labour values, focusing on delivering real support rather than empty promises.

Hena Mannan-Rahman (Conservative)
Hena brings 23 years of Gloucestershire experience and a background in healthcare supporting the NHS. She is a Parish Councillor for Longney and Epney and emphasizes protecting local villages from unsustainable housing and industrial solar developments. Mannan-Rahman opposes large-scale growth projects such as the proposed 800-plus homes in Whitminster and criticizes the council’s failure to safeguard rural character and essential services.

Moya Shannon (Green Party)
A longtime Stroud district resident and former teacher, Moya has been actively involved in local fundraising efforts and family business administration. If elected, she plans to champion small-scale, community-driven renewable energy initiatives and enhance transport and cycling infrastructure. Shannon advocates for affordable, sustainable housing that serves local needs instead of maximizing developer profits.

Mike Stayte (Liberal Democrats)
Eastington native Mike Stayte combines deep local roots with decades of experience in family business and public service. Currently Chair of Slimbridge Parish Council and a seasoned magistrate, he brings a commitment to community engagement and steady leadership.

Ben Walker (UKIP)
A Royal Navy veteran and committed local councillor, Ben Walker promises to serve residents directly rather than political party interests. As a local businessman and family man, he emphasizes personal service and loyalty, focusing on council responsibilities that impact constituents’ day-to-day lives.

Jonathan Wren (Reform UK)
Jonathan Wren has over 20 years’ connection to the district and active involvement in local youth and family groups. He prioritizes protecting the countryside and pledges attentive, inclusive representation to ensure local government effectively serves all residents.

This by-election offers Severn voters a clear choice among candidates who represent a wide range of priorities, from environmental stewardship to sustainable development and community service.
