Emergency services have temporarily suspended their search for a young man who is believed to have entered the River Avon near Tewkesbury almost a week ago. Gloucestershire Police responded to reports around 9pm on Friday, December 19, after witnesses alerted them to someone in the water near Mythe Road.
Due to recent heavy rainfall, the river is currently swollen and fast-flowing, complicating rescue efforts. Multiple agencies conducted thorough searches over the weekend, but the man—thought to be in his twenties—has not yet been found.
The search has been paused because of the dangerous water conditions but is expected to resume as soon as it is safe to do so. Specialist teams continue to comb the surrounding area in hopes of finding new leads.
