Hartpury maintained their undefeated home record in the Championship Rugby this season with a 38-22 victory against a determined Caldy team at 4ED Hartpury Stadium.
The hosts exploded into action early, scoring two tries within the first 12 minutes. Harry Short crossed for the first try after seven minutes, followed by Dale Lemon five minutes later, both conversions successfully kicked by Harry Bazalgette. Caldy responded before halftime with a try from Matt Gallagher and a penalty by Kieran Wilkinson, narrowing the gap to 14-10.
Caldy seized the lead shortly after the break with Gallagher’s second try and Charlie Hyde’s well-executed score, making it 22-14. However, Hartpury battled back as Jake Morris and Harry Short each found the try line, with Bazalgette’s penalty further extending their advantage. Archie McArthur sealed the win with a try in the final moments.

In National 2 West, Cinderford recorded a 33-20 victory over Old Redcliffians at Bell Sports and Rugby Park. Mattie Cotton’s try set the tone early, but visitors fought back with Tom Maclean’s corner try. Sam Smith dazzled with a solo effort, and Jack Condliffe added a try to push Cinderford ahead. Despite a strong half-time effort from Old Reds, Cinderford secured the bonus point through Jake Bailey and maintained their lead thanks to Greenman’s accurate kicking and Josh Horrobin’s late try, clinching the win despite a late redshirt try from Finn Murphy.
Matson outplayed Chew Valley 39-12 in Regional 1 South West, with an early response from Shane Burford followed by a series of tries from Dario Lanciano, Ryan Woodhouse, Tom Porter, and Harry Morris. Tom Law and Woodhouse contributed key conversions, securing a decisive win.
Lydney fell 35-18 to Brixham, now sitting fourth in the table. Brixham dominated early with multiple tries and penalties, while Lydney’s efforts, including a try from Rowan Mullis and penalties from Charlie Beddis and Ricky Aley, were insufficient. Lydney’s discipline issues proved costly, with several yellow cards leading to penalty tries for Brixham.
Newent were defeated 31-13 by Newport (Salop) in Regional 1 Midlands, with Ethan Allen and George Alvis scoring for Newent and Tom Webb contributing a penalty. Drybrook also suffered a loss, 33-5 at Bridgnorth, with Sam Edwards scoring their solitary try.
In Regional 2 Midlands West, Stow-on-the-Wold climbed to second place after a thrilling 48-26 victory over Old Halesonians. Zeb Waite’s hat-trick led the try-scoring charge alongside efforts from Tom Barber, Freddie Roberts, Scott Coombes, and Ellory Millar, with Ollie Clements converting four times.
In other leagues, Longlevens secured a strong 50-17 win at Cheltenham in Regional 2 Severn, while Old Centralians lost 31-21 to Newbury Blues.
Gordon League rallied to overturn Old Redcliffians II 25-20 in Counties 1 Western North with four second-half tries, and Smiths Rugby remain second in Counties 2 Gloucestershire after a commanding 50-5 win over Bream.
At Bell Sports & Rugby Park, Cinderford United won a try-fest 55-31 against Tewkesbury, with Harry Tovey scoring a try and six conversions. Stroud cruised to a 31-13 victory over Dursley.
Leaders Frampton Cotterell blanked Cheltenham North 42-0. Old Patesians lost narrowly 36-28 to Old Elizabethans, while Fairford dominated Melksham II with eight tries in a 50-7 win.
Berry Hill’s 32-19 victory over Cheltenham Saracens in Counties 3 Gloucestershire North disrupted the league leaders, Cirencester ensured a walkover win, and Lydney II edged Hucclecote 13-7.
Bredon Star won a close encounter with Brockworth 18-17, and Gloucester Old Boys triumphed 34-22 over Coney Hill, powered by Niall Galvin’s hat-trick.
Drybrook II snatched a 20-17 win over Old Cryptians in a tightly contested Counties 2 Gloucestershire match.
WOMEN’S RUGBY
Gloucester Hartpury continued their dominant run with an emphatic 75-12 victory over Leicester Tigers at Welford Road, marking their 18th consecutive Premier 15s league win.
Emma Sing spearheaded the offense, scoring multiple tries and conversions. Kate Williams, Lizzie Goulden, Mia Venner, and debutant Alaw Pyrs contributed to a commanding first half, which saw the hosts leading 35-7 at halftime despite playing a player down due to a yellow card.
In the second half, Gloucester extended their dominance with additional tries from Venner, Tabitha Copson, Hannah Dallavalle, Jade Shekells, and Jordan Russell. Sing’s ten successful conversions added to the scoreboard, underscoring Gloucester Hartpury’s superiority.
Cheltenham Tigers secured a narrow 19-14 win over West Park Leeds in Championship North 1, maintaining pressure on league leaders Sale FC 1861. Madi Williams, Hannah Meek, and Penny Bevan scored for Cheltenham Tigers, with Sarah Nicholas converting twice.
