Royal Family’s Favorite Iced Coffee Recipe Shared by Queen Camilla’s Son

Tom Parker Bowles, son of Queen Camilla, has revealed a refreshing iced coffee recipe that has been a staple at royal garden parties for years. The 50-year-old culinary author shared this royal-approved drink in his book, Cooking and the Crown, highlighting its popularity among guests in both the royal and main tea tents.

Describing the drink, Tom emphasized the importance of quality coffee and balance: “A Garden Party stalwart, served in both the royal and main tea tents alike. The key is to use good coffee (this is not the time for instant) and not make it TOO sweet.”

To make the iced coffee, Tom recommends using the drip brewing method, which involves slowly pouring hot water over ground coffee beans through a filter for a bright, smooth flavor. The US National Coffee Association notes that this method can be easily done with a drip coffee machine, many of which are affordable and convenient.

After brewing, allow the coffee to cool slightly before blending it with cream, sugar, ice, and milk. Blend until smooth and pour into glasses for a perfect chilled treat.

Aside from iced coffee, the Royal Family enjoys other health-conscious beverages. The Princess of Wales, for instance, is known for her morning green juice packed with nutrient-rich ingredients like kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, coriander, blueberries, spirulina powder, and matcha powder. These ‘superfood’ ingredients are celebrated for their vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which contribute to overall health.

Tom Parker Bowles' Cooking and the Crown includes over 100 recipes spanning royal culinary history from Queen Victoria to King Charles III, featuring both exquisite and approachable dishes for home cooks to enjoy.
