Robust Police Plans Set for Royal International Air Tattoo 2025 at RAF Fairford

Gloucestershire Constabulary has confirmed solid policing arrangements for the upcoming Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford, scheduled for July 18, 19, and 20, 2025. This renowned military aviation event attracts between 150,000 and 200,000 attendees annually and features impressive displays from numerous global military forces.

This year, the event’s theme, “Eyes in the Skies,” highlights aircraft dedicated to intelligence, surveillance, maritime patrol, search and rescue, surveying, and reconnaissance missions. Visitors can explore a diverse lineup of participating aircraft that embodies this theme.

Deputy Chief Constable Katy Barrow-Grint addressed the police and crime panel at Shire Hall on July 11, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive security plans. “RIAT is an internationally significant event with over 60,000 visitors each day,” she stated. “With many of the world’s militaries present and considering recent international developments, our policing presence is crucial.”

The police preparedness for RIAT aligns with their involvement in other major local events such as Cheltenham Races, Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling, and Gloucester Rugby matches. Deputy Chief Constable Barrow-Grint expressed confidence in the readiness of her team and optimism for favorable weather conditions during the event.

In a statement, RIAT organizers expressed gratitude towards collaborating agencies for their ongoing commitment to safety. “The safety of our visitors is paramount,” they said. “We work closely with various organizations to ensure a secure environment. We look forward to welcoming visitors back to RAF Fairford for what promises to be another spectacular show.”
