Izzy Hammond, daughter of former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond, was involved in a dramatic crash during a Formula E influencer event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The incident took place during the Evo Series, a high-profile race featuring influential figures competing in Formula E cars.
Barely a minute into her lap, Izzy lost control at a corner, striking a bollard and subsequently hitting the barrier at speed. The crash scattered debris across the circuit, prompting concern among fellow participants, including Sidemen stars Behzinga and Vikkstar.
Fortunately, Izzy was able to exit the wrecked vehicle unassisted. Over the radio, she reassured her team, repeatedly saying, “I’m fine, I’m fine,” despite the severe damage to her car. Medical staff quickly assessed her condition, and a safety car was deployed to secure the area.

In a candid Instagram video posted after the race, Izzy humorously apologized to her team LOLA for the crash. She explained that the accident was due to insufficient tire warmth causing a loss of grip: “I don’t think I had enough heat in my tyres, so I was trying to brake and turn with cold tyres, and it all just went a little bit wrong.”
She revealed the impact reached 24g, leaving her with a sore neck but no serious injuries.
Motorsport legend David Coulthard, commentating live, noted that Izzy had “caught the back end,” indicating the loss of rear traction that led to the crash.
With over 279,000 Instagram followers, Izzy is establishing herself as a motorsport influencer, following in her father’s footsteps. Richard Hammond himself is no stranger to high-speed accidents, famously surviving a fiery crash in 2017 while driving a £2 million supercar.
Beyond racing, the father and daughter have recently co-launched a podcast, exploring their relationship, including the challenges of Richard’s frequent absences during Izzy’s childhood due to his demanding career.
