Revised Plans for Edge of City Development Following Public Objections

A development project on the outskirts of Hereford is undergoing revisions after facing opposition from the public and officials.

STL Group’s plan for new homes near the protected Lugg Meadows nature reserve initially proposed “up to 350” homes but has now been scaled back to “up to 265”, with 93 designated as affordable housing. Notably, a planned farm shop and café have been removed due to local planning policy conflicts, and a previously proposed primary school has also been scrapped.

The revised plan aims to integrate strategic planting to minimize visual impact and ensures that the proposed homes and buildings are not at risk of flooding. Additionally, areas earmarked for ecological enhancement and farmland will be repurposed to provide open spaces and recreational opportunities for residents while maintaining connectivity to public walkways.

Savills, representing STL, highlights the increasing housing requirements and limited land supply in Herefordshire, emphasizing the need to support development in the proposed location.

Following the feedback on the updated plans, a formal re-submission will be made, initiating another round of consultation.
