Young farmer and entrepreneur Reuben Owen is excited to welcome a new face to his Life in the Dales team. The popular Channel 5 show follows Reuben’s rural lifestyle, capturing the ups and downs of modern farming. Alongside his girlfriend Jess and friends Sonny and Capper, Reuben shares his passion for life on the land.
The series regularly features Reuben’s family, including his father Clive and siblings Sid and Myles, who first gained widespread recognition on Our Yorkshire Farm. Now, Reuben has strengthened his crew by bringing on Jess’ brother-in-law, Martin, to assist with his expanding business.
As the Mirror reports, Reuben introduced Martin to their latest project while joking, “First day, what could possibly go wrong?” He added that having Martin, an experienced mechanic with 17 years in machinery, on board made him feel much more at ease.

Martin, who is married to Jess’s sister Amelia, brings valuable expertise and enthusiasm to the team. Reuben shared his surprise at Martin’s interest in joining their ventures, to which Martin humorously replied he initially thought Reuben was joking about hiring him.
In addition to new beginnings, the show tackled poignant topics in Tuesday’s episode. Friends Sonny and Capper opened up about the challenges of men’s mental health while honoring the memory of lost loved ones.
The Life in the Dales team thanked fans for their continued support, hinting at the show’s limited remaining episodes in the current series. Highlights included teamwork on new projects like building a play shed at Brough Castle Farm, stone-crushing with Clive, and fundraising efforts for a deserving mental health charity.
Fans took to social media to share their affection for the series. Comments praised the heartfelt emotion, entertainment value, and connection to rural life. Many expressed hope for more episodes, calling Life in the Dales “the best programme on TV.”
