Reuben Owen Embraces Rural Life, Rules Out Big City Move After Moving in with Girlfriend

Reuben Owen, star of Channel 5’s Our Yorkshire Farm, has firmly put to rest any rumors of a move to city life with his girlfriend Jess Ellwood. Instead, the couple is happily settling into rural living, having recently taken a significant step by moving in together.

The pair’s relationship blossomed after meeting at a Young Farmers' event in 2024, and they confirmed their romance publicly in November of the same year. Now, Reuben has made his home at Jess’ family farm in Brough Castle, Cumbria, close to his roots in Swaledale.

In a recent interview on Storm and Alexis’s Channel 5 show, the hosts asked if they ever longed for the hustle and bustle of town life. Reuben’s response was immediate and heartfelt. “Personally, no. I’ve always grown up in the countryside,” he said. Glancing at Jess, he added, “Working with you, living in the countryside, and spending time together—there’s no place I’d rather be. But I’d go anywhere with you.”

When questioned directly about a move to London or adopting city living, both Reuben and Jess were clear: it’s not on their horizon. “No, I don’t think so,” Reuben stated plainly.

Opening up about his transition to living at Jess’s family home, Reuben shared with the Mirror how the move unfolded naturally. “I used to come down at night to see Jess and found I didn’t want to leave. It started with a toothbrush, then my clothes in the washing machine, and meals on the table. Now, I’m all in. We’re loving our time together—it just keeps getting better. Jess’ family have been incredible, welcoming me with open arms.”

Jess echoed the sentiment, saying, “He was always here anyway, so moving in just made sense. It’s really special living together. When we’re not working, we’re usually cosy at home with fish and chips or a takeaway. We also enjoy the odd date night out and had a lovely holiday to Cyprus last year.”

For Reuben and Jess, it’s clear that their hearts—and future—are firmly rooted in the countryside.
