Restaurant’s Faith Restored After Uber Eats Error Reversed

Hanif Laskar, owner of the beloved Rajdoot Indian Restaurant in Cirencester, faced a severe financial crisis after Uber Eats mistakenly transferred nearly £37,700 to the wrong account. The error, which occurred in June, left Hanif struggling to pay suppliers and staff wages for his eight employees. Despite persistent follow-ups over four months, he received no clear answers or progress updates from Uber Eats.

Hope arrived when South Cotswolds MP Roz Savage took up his case. Her office sent multiple urgent letters to Uber Eats’ senior management, demanding swift action. Within days of the final intervention, the full amount was recovered and returned to Rajdoot.

Expressing his gratitude, Hanif said, “After months of despair, Roz Savage MP and her team gave me hope when I had none. Their kindness, persistence, and compassion will stay with me forever. They didn’t just save my business—they saved my livelihood and the jobs of my staff.”

Roz Savage highlighted the broader impact, stating, “Hanif’s experience underscores how devastating corporate errors can be for small, family-run businesses that are the backbone of our communities. I’m relieved the funds have been returned, and I urge service providers to avoid leaving local businesses in uncertainty.”

For over 40 years, Rajdoot Indian Restaurant has been a vital part of Cirencester, providing jobs and contributing to the local economy. This successful resolution not only restores faith in local support systems but also safeguards the livelihoods of many in the community.
