Ren Gill’s Battle with Lyme Disease Chronicles in his Music

Lyme disease can have lingering and severe impacts, often due to being misdiagnosed at the onset. While not usually fatal, it can lead to neurological complications, heart issues, and arthritis if left untreated.

Ren Gill, a 35-year-old musician, released “Sick Boi” in 2023 after an extended hiatus caused by his declining health. Despite signing with Sony Records as a teenager, his health deteriorated, and he struggled to find answers and effective treatment. Ultimately, after being misdiagnosed and treated for various conditions, he was correctly diagnosed with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and brain damage.

Lyme disease patients commonly face misdiagnosis, with only a quarter accurately diagnosed according to a 2019 study. This often leads to confusion with conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.
