Landlords of The Globe Inn in Berry Hill, near Coleford, have expressed immense relief after discovering the pub was sold at auction without their prior knowledge — only to learn they could continue running the beloved community venue.
Tamara Bridgeman, 26, and her fiancé Steve Griffiths, 30, have managed The Globe Inn since December 2021. For Tamara, the pub is more than just a workplace; she grew up there, starting as a pot washer at 14. So, when a sign went up announcing the pub’s auction sale last month, it came as a complete shock.
“We were devastated,” the couple shared on The Globe Inn’s Facebook page, emphasizing that despite the sale, they had no plans to leave. Tamara admitted the uncertainty weighed heavily on her for weeks, but the overwhelming community support—in offers to crowdfund and daily visits—inspired hope and strength.

The pub was sold on July 9 for £211,000, exceeding its guide price of £179,000. The new owners, a local couple, have reassured Tamara and Steve that they are welcome to stay on and continue managing the pub.
A recent update on the pub’s Facebook page celebrates the positive meeting with the new owners: “They genuinely have The Globe and our community at heart. We’re excited to work together to keep this special place thriving for years to come. Thank you all for your continuous support.”
Tamara reflected on the experience, saying, “We got no warning before the auction sign went up—just two and a half weeks to process everything. I’ve been here for 12 years; this is my lifestyle. The support from customers and locals kept me going during a difficult time. This place is like family.”
While the previous owners maintained just a distant relationship, the new owners’ local roots and commitments have given Tamara and Steve optimism about the future.
Looking ahead, The Globe Inn continues to plan its beloved events calendar, including the well-known Globefest music festival scheduled for May 2027.
