A dangerous incident unfolded in Bourton-on-the-Water when a moped rider refused to stop for police and fled on a silver Yamaha 125 scooter despite having a flat front tyre. Officers spotted the scooter, which had been reported for anti-social behavior, around 2 pm on Friday, 2 May.
Police made several attempts to stop the rider, including deploying a stinger device designed to deflate tyres. Although the front tyre was successfully flattened, the rider brazenly continued the escape, running a red light and riding into oncoming traffic on the A424. Due to the dangerous behavior and traffic conditions, officers deemed a pursuit unsafe and halted the chase.
Further investigation revealed that the scooter was neither taxed nor insured. The vehicle has been regularly observed in the Bourton-on-the-Water and Rissington areas in recent weeks. The owner’s identity remains unknown, and police urgently want to identify and speak with the rider.
