Rapist Jailed After Attempt to Evade Capture

Mustafa Ogur, 24, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for raping a woman in Ross-on-Wye. Ogur was captured on CCTV footage targeting potential victims and using Google Translate on his phone to convey his intentions. His attempt to alter his appearance by shaving his head after the crime was not enough to avoid being recognized and apprehended by the police.

Ogur’s sentencing includes an extended eight-year license and a lifetime sexual harm prevention order. Detective Inspector Ben Pearson commended the victim for her bravery and stressed the importance of reporting sexual offenses. Pearson also emphasized the community’s safety, stating that Ogur, deemed a dangerous individual, will be removed from the public for a significant period.
