Seamers Toby Roland-Jones and Ryan Higgins led the Middlesex bowling attack with impressive figures of 4 for 30 and 3 for 35 respectively, applying relentless pressure on the Gloucestershire batting lineup. However, Gloucestershire’s resilient last-wicket partnership between Matt Taylor, who remained unbeaten on 16, and JT Langridge, unbeaten on 1, managed to hold the innings together for an additional seven overs amidst mounting tension.

Middlesex resumed their innings at 298 for 6, leading by 328 runs. Duke opened his innings with aggressive strokes, including a six over long-off off Langridge, but eventually fell caught behind after a brief but impactful knock. The lower middle order faltered quickly as Langridge claimed wickets and Middlesex’s innings folded to 361.
Gloucestershire’s innings began under immediate pressure. Higgins bowled Ollie Price early, followed swiftly by Roland-Jones dismissing Joe Phillips and Miles Hammond, reducing Gloucestershire to 18 for 3.
