The incident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on April 21, 2026, when an individual attempted to enter through Gate 2 without presenting the required identification.
A spokesperson for the base, home to the US Air Force’s 48th Fighter Wing, known as the “Liberty Wing,” confirmed the swift response: “Gate barriers were immediately deployed, and security personnel acted quickly to stop the vehicle from entering the installation.”
The individual was subsequently detained by Ministry of Defence Police officers. Despite the incident, RAF officials confirmed that no official lockdown was issued during this time.
