Longlevens AFC, a community football club in Gloucester, has been the target of abhorrent vandalism, theft, and racially charged graffiti following two break-ins over the weekend. The disturbing acts occurred at the club’s Saw Mills facility, leading to significant distress among players, staff, and supporters.
Just minutes before an Under-15 girls' match was set to begin, club members had to urgently remove racist graffiti spray-painted on the pitch and surrounding fences. In addition, several brand-new footballs and bags were stolen during the break-ins, with some of the stolen equipment later found set ablaze in nearby Walls field.
Expressing their anguish on Facebook, Longlevens AFC condemned the perpetrators, labeling them “a special sort of low life” for attacking a club dedicated to serving local juniors, youth, and adult players. The club is currently investigating how access was gained, suspecting entry through Barnett Way or Walls Club, and is exploring options to install CCTV for better security.
