Queen Camilla’s Jewels Stolen at Service Station Amid Security Lapse

In a startling revelation, royal biographer Robert Jobson exposes an alarming security breach involving Queen Camilla’s jewels during preparations for a 2022 royal tour to Canada. According to Jobson’s book, Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty, the Queen’s precious jewels were stolen at Beaconsfield Services on the M40 motorway, marking an unexpected and embarrassing start to the trip.

The incident unfolded as Queen Camilla and King Charles readied themselves for their three-day visit tied to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. While the royal protection officers briefly stepped away—one for a cigarette, the others inside grabbing coffee—they left a bag labeled “HRH The Duchess of Cornwall” unattended in an unlocked car. Seizing the opportunity, a local gang reportedly stole the bag containing the jewels.

The breach sparked a swift response. MI5 agents promptly arrived at the scene and traced the thieves using nearby surveillance footage, recovering the valuables within hours. Despite the quick resolution, royal insiders expressed astonishment that the incident remained undisclosed to the public. Jobson notes that no police report was filed and no charges pursued, suggesting the event was deliberately suppressed to avoid public embarrassment.

Buckingham Palace has not commented on these allegations. This episode is far from the only security threat faced by the royal family. Historical records recall a failed kidnapping attempt on Princess Anne in 1974, when gunman Ian Ball pursued her limousine and was ultimately stopped by a retired boxer. The same year, Anne famously rebuffed Ball’s demands, underscoring the dangers royals have historically encountered.

In 1981, an assassination attempt against Queen Elizabeth II was foiled when Christopher John Lewis fired a shot during a tour in Dunedin. Although the shot missed due to poor positioning and inadequate weaponry, the incident revealed vulnerabilities in royal security.

These events collectively highlight the importance of stringent protection for the monarchy. The recent theft of Queen Camilla’s jewels serves as a stark reminder of the ever-present risks surrounding royal life, even during routine moments on the road.
