Proposal to Construct Six New Homes on Green Belt Land Near M5 and Hotel in Staverton

A proposal has been submitted to Tewkesbury Borough Council to build up to six new family-sized homes on green belt land in Staverton, Gloucestershire. The 0.1-hectare site is situated just south of the B4063 Gloucester Road, adjacent to an unused access point for the Ramada by Wyndham hotel, and close to the M5 motorway.

The plans, put forward by Zesta Planning on behalf of Anthony Redmond, envision homes featuring generous gardens and off-road parking spaces with enough space for vehicles to exit in forward gear, prioritizing highway safety. While the site lies within the Green Belt, the developers believe the site can comfortably accommodate the homes without compromising its natural setting.

Design details are yet to be finalized, but initial documents indicate the houses will draw inspiration from the local architectural style, likely employing red brick construction and traditional window designs to blend with the surrounding area.

Location highlights include proximity to a nearby bus stop on B4063, offering frequent services to Gloucester and Cheltenham, both less than two miles away. The site is also part of the Gloucester to Cheltenham Cycleway Scheme, benefiting from new pedestrian and cycle links established in January 2023 following the M5 overbridge completion at Staverton. This provides enhanced connectivity for future residents to local amenities such as supermarkets, healthcare, and schools within a 10-minute cycle or 40-minute walk.

Residents and stakeholders can view and comment on the application via the Tewkesbury Borough Council planning portal.
