Buckingham Palace has officially announced that Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank are expecting their third child this summer. King Charles has expressed his delight upon receiving the joyous news, marking another addition to the royal family.
The couple, who already have two sons—August, aged five, and Ernest, aged two—are reportedly “very pleased” with the pregnancy. The young brothers are also said to be “very excited” about welcoming a new sibling, according to the palace statement released on May 4.
In a touching social media post, Princess Eugenie, 36, shared a photograph of Ernest in a Chelsea football kit and August in a grey long-sleeved shirt, both proudly holding an ultrasound image of their unborn sibling.

The official statement from Buckingham Palace read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer. August (aged five) and Ernest (aged two) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family."
The baby is set to be 15th in line to the throne, pushing the Duke of Edinburgh down to 16th position. Although the child will not receive an HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) title, the new arrival will be the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the third grandchild born following her passing in 2022.
This addition marks the fifth grandchild of Prince Andrew, Duke of York. Princess Eugenie’s sister, Princess Beatrice, welcomed her daughter Athena Mapelli Mozzi in January 2022.
Recently, Jack Brooksbank celebrated his 40th birthday, with Princess Eugenie sharing heartfelt moments on her Instagram story, including images of her husband relaxing on a beach along with the message, “Happy 40th my love.”
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank were married in October 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Their first son, August, was born in February 2021, followed by their second son, Ernest, in May 2023.
