Princess Eugenie Expecting Third Child as King Charles Expresses Delight

Buckingham Palace has officially confirmed that Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank are expecting their third child this summer. King Charles has expressed his delight upon learning the joyful news.

The couple, who are already parents to two young sons—August, aged five, and Ernest, aged two—are said to be “very pleased” with the upcoming addition to their family. According to the palace statement, their boys are “very excited” to welcome a new sibling.

Princess Eugenie, 36, shared a charming photograph featuring both August and Ernest holding an ultrasound image. In the photo, Ernest sports a Chelsea football kit, while August wears a grey long-sleeved top, symbolizing the family’s excitement for the new arrival.

The official statement from Buckingham Palace reads: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer. August (aged five) and Ernest (aged two) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family. His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.”

The baby will be 15th in line to the throne, which shifts their great-uncle, the Duke of Edinburgh, down to 16th place. This child will also be the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the third great-grandchild born since her passing in 2022.

This forthcoming birth marks the fifth grandchild of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Princess Eugenie’s sister, Princess Beatrice, welcomed her daughter Athena Mapelli Mozzi in January 2022.

Jack Brooksbank recently celebrated his 40th birthday, with Princess Eugenie sharing a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, including images of him relaxing on a beach alongside the message, “Happy 40th my love.”

The couple married at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in October 2018. Their first son, August, was born in February 2021, followed by their second son, Ernest, in May 2023.
