Princess Anne’s Unusual Gift Proves Handy for Mike and Zara Tindall’s Family

Princess Anne, known for her practicality and dedication to charitable causes, once received an unconventional gift that surprisingly suited her family’s needs perfectly.

During a visit to a factory specializing in reusable baby products, the Princess Royal was presented with bespoke reusable nappies. This thoughtful and environmentally conscious gift was highlighted in a recent episode of the Palace Confidential podcast, where Daily Mail journalists Rebecca English and Richard Eden discussed royal gifts.

When asked whether Princess Anne had indeed been given reusable nappies, Rebecca confirmed, “That is true. She visited a factory that makes reusable nappies.” Luke Blackall, the host, humorously suggested that the nappies could be used by Anne’s grandchildren. Rebecca agreed, adding, “She could’ve taken them back to Gatcombe Park for the brood.” Luke pointed out that the gift would be particularly handy for Zara and Mike Tindall’s family.

Princess Anne’s visit to Bambino Mio’s factory in 2021 is well documented. During the visit, she awarded the company The Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade and officially opened their new headquarters. Bambino Mio’s founder, Guy Schanschieff, expressed pride in the occasion, noting that Anne had previously awarded him an MBE in 2011. He praised the company’s role in promoting sustainable baby products.

Princess Anne resides at the 700-acre Gatcombe Park estate with her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence. Her daughter Zara and son-in-law Mike, along with their three children—Mia, 11, Lena, six, and Lucas, four—live nearby in a seven-bedroom farmhouse on the estate. Anne’s brother Peter and his family also live on the Gloucestershire grounds.

The estate itself, purchased by Queen Elizabeth II in 1976, is now valued at approximately £6 million.

This charming story of a royal gift fits alongside other interesting presents Princess Anne has received over the years. Royal editor Rebecca English has noted that Anne once received quirky items like a model slurry tanker, rugby balls, tartan accessories, edible goods, and even 51 acorns in a box.

Recently, Zara Tindall opened up about life as a member of the royal family, describing it as no different from any other family facing everyday struggles. Speaking at a London Sporting Club event, she said, “It is very hard to see from the outside, but 100%, it is a family that is still going through the same struggles other people do. Whether they are relationships, obviously, it is very easy to see every day. We’re still very supportive of each other.”
