Princess Anne’s lively personality shone through with a teasing comment to Gabby Logan’s husband, Kenny Logan, before an important rugby match.
Kenny Logan, a former Scotland rugby star with 70 caps, including appearances in the 2003 Rugby World Cup, is well known not just for his sporting achievements but also as the husband of broadcaster and former gymnast Gabby Logan.
During a conversation with Vernon Kay on BBC’s Tracks Of My Years, Kenny recalled the pride he felt representing Scotland on the global stage and a memorable encounter with Princess Anne, a passionate patron of The Murrayfield Injured Players Foundation.

Describing the exhilarating atmosphere of hearing Flower of Scotland in stadiums, Kenny said, “I’m pumped up now thinking about it.” He then laughed, sharing how the Princess Royal once greeted him with a sharp-witted remark:
“Running out on the pitch and turning around and meeting Princess Anne. She came up to me and said, ‘You alright Kenny?’ I said ‘yeah, yeah’ and shook her hand. She replied, ‘Can’t believe you still got a game.’”
His laughter was infectious as Vernon Kay joined in. Kenny continued, “I first met her when I was 19. I was injured, and we spent all day together. We got on really well from the start. Even now, when I see her, she always says hi or tries to sell me a horse or something! She is brilliant.”
Princess Anne, who turns 75 in August, is reportedly opting out of public celebrations, choosing instead to focus on her numerous charitable commitments at Buckingham Palace.
Meanwhile, Kenny Logan has recently brought attention to prostate cancer, emphasizing its stealthy nature as a “silent killer.” Diagnosed in 2022 after a wellness check inspired by his wife Gabby’s podcast, Kenny underwent successful surgery and is now cancer-free.
Reflecting on his diagnosis during his chat with Vernon, he recounted the moment the doctor told him over Zoom, “Is Gabby with you?” Kenny immediately sensed the seriousness, confirming, “I’ve got prostate cancer.”
Kenny urges men to take their health seriously: “There are no symptoms, that is the thing. It is a silent killer. When it hits you, it’s too late. It’s already spread outside the prostate.
“If you’re 45 or older, go get your prostate checked. It’s up to you. Just get checked.”
