Prince William’s Healthy Breakfast Drink Offers Health Benefits, According to Expert

Prince William has been known to enjoy a glass of apple juice as part of his breakfast, alongside a cup of tea and eggs on wholemeal toast. While this inexpensive drink may seem simple, it actually offers a range of health benefits when consumed correctly.

According to Dr. Paul Daidone, MD, Medical Director at True Self Recovery, apple juice contains high levels of antioxidants, particularly in its cloudy form. These antioxidants, including flavonoids and vitamin C, can contribute to immune function, prevent oxidative stress, and provide trace amounts of potassium, which is beneficial for heart and muscle function. Additionally, unfiltered (cloudy) apple juice may have a positive effect on cognitive function and potential support towards cardiovascular health due to its beneficial polyphenol content.

Polyphenols, which are present in plants and plant-based foods, help the body manage inflammation and protect against oxidative stress. They are part of a category of phytonutrients that provide specific health benefits, along with other nutrients like fibre, vitamins, and minerals. Furthermore, it’s widely believed that the natural sugars and fluids in apple juice can aid in rehydration, especially beneficial for illnesses such as stomach flu, although it should not replace water for rehydration purposes.

Moderate consumption of cloudy apple juice has been associated with heart-healthy advantages, including the reduction of cholesterol and inflammation within the blood vessels, according to the National Council on Aging and various clinical trials outlined by the National Library of Medicine. However, it’s essential to note that while apple juice has its benefits, it should not be considered a sole solution for health, as regular consumption of sweet drinks, including fruit juices, can lead to blood sugar peaks, weight gain, and potential risks of type 2 diabetes and dental issues.

The UK’s Good Food guidelines recommend limiting fruit juice intake to a maximum of 150ml per day, emphasizing the importance of moderation in consuming such beverages.

In addition to apple juice, Prince William’s breakfast includes eggs and wholemeal bread, both of which offer essential nutrients. Eggs are packed with high-quality protein, vitamins, minerals, good fats, and other beneficial nutrients, making them a valuable component of a healthy diet, as noted by health experts.
